Expert Lookup® helps you identify scientific experts in minutes
Find the right experts, identify potential competing interests and expand your specialist network with a just a few clicks. Expert Lookup helps you find researchers to review grant applications based on previously published manuscripts that are relevant to the grant application
How it works
Powered by the Elsevier Fingerprint Engine®, Expert Lookup produces visual semantic indexes of the researchers in the Scopus® database, the world's largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature.
Each Fingerprint index reveals expertise ranked by the uniqueness and frequency of the terms that define each author's publications. By matching the Fingerprint indexes of individual researchers against those of an incoming proposal, Expert Lookup automatically suggests reviewers and identifies potential competing interests.
For example:
Is a potential reviewer a co-author to the researcher applying for funds?
Has the potential expert worked at the same organization in the past as the applicant?
Expert Lookup makes it easy to answer these imperative questions and identify the right reviewers.
The Elsevier Fingerprint Engine
The Elsevier Fingerprint Engine creates Fingerprint indexes via a four-step process:
Proposal detail
Semantic fingerprint
Search and select experts
View selected experts

Expert Lookup instantly generates a Fingerprint index of the grant application or paper abstract.

Expert Lookup provides a list of potential reviewers with indicators of expertise and possible conflicts of interest.
You can also use Expert Lookup to easily build a bank of potential reviewers for grant applications and manuscripts.
