Talk title: Acidic aqueous biphasic systems with ionic liquids: Fundamental aspects and applications to metal extraction

Isabel Billard studied the fundamental aspects of solvation, complexation, and extraction of metallic ions in Ionic Liquids, focusing on lanthanides and actinides and extending my work to Platinum Group Metals These studies may have impacts onto possible industrial processes, such as industrial recovery of precious metals.

Since 2015, I have been dealing with applied aspects of the recycling and recovery of metals to be found in technological objects (permanent magnets, NiMH batteries, etc.) Studies are based on innovative schemes, that can use i) hydrophobic ionic liquids under traditional liquid/liquid extraction mechanism, ii) aqueous biphasic systems with hydrophilic ionic liquids.
